Winter is kicking in, also in Berlin. After dinner I went out for a meeting with Marcel, who’s helping me to record one of my new projects. When we walked out of the metro an old lady asked me if I could help here down the stairs. Once she was down on the platform she … Read more

Berlin: Russian Hair

Hair_Extensions

In today’s New York Times I read the article by Andrew Cramer on the Russian real hair extention market. “Natalya N. Vinokurova, 26, grew up nearby in Yukhnov, a town where half the homes lack indoor plumbing and the average monthly wage is about $300. What little cash-crop agriculture there once was collapsed with the … Read more

Berlin: Sleep

sleep-L

Back in Berlin after a long night with no sleep. Off to bed, more news tomorrow. Oh yeah, a little bit of news today: tonight KinkFM in the Netherlands will air some of my tracks, starting the show at 22:00 hrs, Amsterdam time. Sleep well!

Kaunas: Radio Nowhere

Kaunas

Last night’s show together with Frans de Waard went very well, we played the set of our new project Bandwidth, which is entirely built upon the radiofrequencies we can receive at the venue we perform. Last night we heard some Bach, an old track by Britney Spears and the radio conversations of the planes landing … Read more

Berlin: Japanese music

Dr.Suzuki

Tonight I will spin record at a nice Japanese music festival at RAUM 20 here in Berlin. During my last visit to Japan my host introduced me to the work of Japanese violist Shinichi Suzuki, “Music exists for the purpose of growing an admirable heart.” I couldn’t agree more.

Berlin: Grateful

letters

Today I received a letter by an ex girlfriend. She wrote she was happy we were in contact again and she was grateful for seeing her name back in the thank-you-notes of my last album. I like to honor the people who show me what kind of person I am.

Berlin: Billionaire

soc_network

Today I rewatched The Social Network, the movie about Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook. He seemed like an unpleasant person. I guess you have to be unpleasant if you want to become a multi-billionaire before your 25th birthday. I guess I am not gonna make it. I liked the movie though.

Berlin: Building

sofia

Today I worked together with friends on their bar here in Berlin. We needed to paint the ceiling and drill through some lumber… I am very good in breaking stuff. It was a fun day. A hard day’s work building is better than a day inside the studio. Although that is ofcourse not really true..

Berlin: Math

Tonight my old mathteacher of highschool was in Berlin. He came down to Neukölln together with his colleagues to meet up with me. After a quick meal at a Taiwanese restaurant we hit the bars. I found my favorite beer, Delerium Tremens and drank it for all it’s worth. Catching up with the old days…
