Berlin: Time Off

I decided to take some time of touring. To focus on life in general, building up my new company in effect equipment KOMA Elektronik and to work on new compositions and releases. In a year I will return to my first love: the road. Untill than: please don’t forget about the good times we had.

I will still perform some one – off shows, when you are interested, please get in contact. Big tours are out of the question.

I’m in the middle of nowhere, or at least so it feels; Herlev. Every Danish person I told about my visit didn’t have a clue where it is. I feel like a army scout, investigating new grounds.

Aarhus: Binge

Tonights show in Aarhus was (as always in Aarhus) loads of fun. The organisers provided us with many radio’s to fill the space with sound, which is exactly what we did. As an afterparty we went to a studentparty where we got further acquainted with the scandinavian drinking culture. I never saw so many people so drunk in one room, it made me feel weird. When a girl asked me why I wasn’t as drunk as she was, the only thing I could answer was “I guess its not in my blood.”

From the science front: “Using a “5-drink, 30-days” (5 standard drinks in a row during the last 30 days) definition, Denmark leads European binge drinking, with 60% of 15-16 year olds reporting participating in this behavior (and 61% reporting intoxication).”

Berlin: Birthday

People say I should never get too personal, let alone be emotional on this blog. I guess that goes against everything I am, so to hell with them. Today I celebrated my birthday from my bed. It was not a sleep in, I leave that to Yoko and John, but I was sick. Nevertheless; I am one year older, time goes so fast. The last year was one of change, a year in which I learned more than all the years before combined; I guess thats life. I am grateful to the people who are close to me for all the love, friendship and endless talks. A new year, a new record, a new tour; I am ready.

And now on a more practical side:
Thanks to all for the nice e-mails, Facebook messages and calls. It means the world to me. Berlin: Fingers Crossed

As some of the frequent readers of this blog might know, I’ve been planning a working trip to the Sahara for quite some time now. Last november I was planning on going there, but the Dutch Embassy, who was so kind to sponsor the trip, couldn’t guarantee my safety in the by terrorism threathened Mauritania, so I had to postpone the journey to April. Now all hell breaks lose in Northern Africa, democracy is a good thing, I hope I can still make the trip this spring. Fingers crossed.

My cousin and her girlfriend were in town this weekend. After they left I studied on two new pieces for piano I am writing. After two hours my 78 year old Turkish neighbour dropped by for a cup of tea. He gave me a Kabak Kemane for my birthday with the words: “Now you can finally learn to play a real instrument.”

“What should I do about men trying to get into my pants?” she asked.

Berlin: Work Ethics

This morning finally the painter came to camouflage the damage of the leaks of new years day. When he came in he asked me if he could use my toilet. When he didn’t show himself 15 minutes later I checked out my bathroom to find out he started there with painting. I really like the German work ethics.
