Berlin: Party

berghain

Last night, after a good bottle of wine, I ended up in Berlin’s most famous club Berghain, where parties start fridayevening and end around the time when the sun comes up on monday morning. Around me, a lot of people getting drunk and danced their lungs out, fueled by large quantities of drugs. The dj’s … Read more

Berlin: Emptyness

Berlin in sunny weather is like heaven on earth. This afternoon I walked for an hour at the old Tempelhof Airport, children were playing, middle aged guys were riding their bicycles up and down the runway. Halfway the main runway I met my 78 year old Turkish neighbour. We had coffee together and talked about … Read more

The last days I worked on the Dutch subtitles for segments of two movies made by the Australian video-remix group Soda Jerk. After the concert I ate a small Russian meal with Alex, the booker. We had my favorite dish: vareniki, special russian dumplings. We kept our wodka cool by sticking it in the snow. The simple life.

A journalist wrote a column about me in todays regional newspaper “De Gelderlander.” In the column he writes about me not being on facebook, twitter and me not watching farmers datingshows on tv. I was wondering: how does he know all of that?

Nijmegen: Rough

The recording is going very well. At the moment we have the rough outlines of the 8 tracks that will be on the album. Some are loud and obnoxious, others are ballads with little sounds, fieldrecordings, vocals and ofcourse cello. Tomorrow we’ll work on the detailed mixes, adding new sounds and make sure we’ll get … Read more

Nijmegen: Fence

ah

This morning children were waiting in front of the Albert Heijn supermarket, asking me and other customers for soccer playing cards, while standing behind a fence; else they would harass the customers too much… These are the moments you have to be patient with your heimat.

Nijmegen: Good

I am currently in the studio together with Audrey Chen. Today I’ve heard the most crazy sounds. The album will be good.
