Berlin: Krautrock

25376

Over the last couple of years I’ve been listening a lot to German experimental music from the 1950′s till now. Besides the pioneering work of Stockhausen I like Tangerine Dream, Neu!, the experimental Kraftwerk stuff and Bowie’s Berlin period a lot. Last wednesday I went to see movies about Berlin and the German musicscene and found out on the spot that it actually influenced me a lot. I went back home, listened to the stuff I recorded on tape and all of the sudden saw big paralells between the dreamy Krautrock I’ve been listening to and my new work. I usually work from the heart when composing, it’s a strange  feeling to find out something did more with your brain and ears than you ever could imagine.
